Why Some Enclosures Crack Outside?

When you're choosing an outside distribution board for your home, you probably don't know what to look for- IP ratings, material, gasketing? You're supposed to know all this and more to make the right choice. Maybe you'll ask for advice from your installer or a salesman in the shop, or go for a big brand name even if it's pricey- you expect the quality for that kind of money. What you didn't expect is that plenty of them don't make it — the plastic cracks, the seals fail, and suddenly you're replacing a board that should have lasted for years. But why does it happen? And is it the board's fault, or the way it's installed? Usually, it's a bit of both.
